One Big Circle

Based at Bristol Temple Meads station, One Big Circle is a dynamic and diverse team of over 50 working at the forefront of Intelligent Video, AI and Machine Learning within the rail industry. One Big Circle develop Software and Hardware systems in-house within our neighbouring lab and office spaces – with a broad range of expertise and technical skills, the team works to develop end-to-end systems to meet rail challenges and technological demands, finding optimal methods to deliver effective solutions.

Meet our Teams

Product & Service

The Product & Service team act as the voice of the user inside the business. It’s the team’s responsibility to know our users better than anyone else, and to use that understanding to make sure AIVR technology is fit for track and site purpose. The team works closely with the Technologies, Business Development, and Delivery teams to develop new features, fix issues and identify opportunities.

Technology

The Technology team design and develop the front and back end delivery of the AIVR platform. Implementing valued input from our rail partners and the Product & Service teams in real time, the team continuously test and deploy software functionalities into the AIVR platform, which lets users access critical data from their project site in the most dynamic and responsive way.

Delivery & Systems

The Delivery & Systems team work from the One Big Circle lab, constructing and testing key hardware solutions which enable AIVR data capture. From concept design and specification, to factory testing through to deployment, the team conceive and deliver end-to-end AIVR systems in-line with the demands of our clients and your projects.

Business Development

The Business Development team instigate and cultivate partnerships throughout the vast rail network. The team exhibit and demonstrate the AIVR product suite at industry events and in-house meetings, engaging with end-users and interested rail parties to understand the challenges they face, and work with the full One Big Circle team to initiate the delivery of befitting solutions.

Operations & Commercial

The Operations & Commercial team are the conduit between the internal One Big Circle teams and our clients, supporting sale closures, financial forecasting, and delivering project costing and proposals. The team oversee the procurement of equipment and invoicing; they are responsible for the inner workings of all project deliveries, whilst also managing HR and recruitment.

AI & Computer Vision

Our AI & Computer Vision team design and deploy algorithms to automatically detect track and trackside assets, monitor behaviour patterns, and a vast range of component issues captured in AIVR data. They build datasets from over a petabyte of AIVR data, and work with rail experts, the Product & Services team, and the Technologies team to ensure detections are effectively categorised and highlighted within AIVR.

Meet our founders

One Big Circle was founded by Ian, Emily, Sam and Barn in 2017 with a simple premise – to create smart video solutions to help people navigate challenging industrial environments.

With backgrounds in video, system integration, product development and project delivery, they have a combined 40 years of experience both in the Corporate and Start-up world. From managing the migration of Transport for London CCTV system from analogue to digital in advance of the London 2012 Olympics, to founding, growing and exiting the sports video platform My Action Replay, they had a wealth of knowledge in the sector from which to draw upon.

At the start of 2019, One Big Circle focused on developing AIVR as a vehicle-borne video system, capturing critical data whilst on the move. Since these beginnings, and alongside the acceleration of the Covid-19 pandemic, the AIVR platform has become a well-established tool throughout the UK rail industry. OBC work in close collaboration with Network Rail and the Supply Chain, to ensure AIVR’s capabilities meet challenges across the UK network.
