Systems & Site Assurance Engineer
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced detail-oriented and proactive Systems Assurance Engineer to support the development, testing, and assurance of rail mounted systems. The role is heavily process-driven and requires strong documentation skills, a solid understanding of the rail industry, and the ability to test products at a system level while ensuring certification and compliance requirements are met.
You will be working on projects primarily destined for the railway environment, as well as other national infrastructure. These systems might typically consist of technology such as line scanning and machine vision cameras, lighting, laser measurement systems, thermal sensors, industrial embedded Linux, IP networking, GPS/4G/5G. The ideal candidate will hold a broad fundamental understanding of integrating and fault finding this type of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, review, and improve process documentation, technical documentation, and technical assurance test documents.
- Ensure systems and products comply with industry standards, certification requirements, and regulatory frameworks.
- Provide expert advice to systems and discipline engineers during concept, design, and delivery phases.
- Review technical documentation and evidence packs to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
- Work proactively with engineering and project teams to identify risks and gaps early, including providing expertise on differing train fleets and specialist rail elements of trains.
- Input and contribution into Product and Project decisions, in particular with aspects relating to integrating with the train including OLE, Pantograph, wheel sets, and others.
- Share practical, real-world rail experience to complement formal systems engineering processes.
- Support the development of engineering judgement and decision making across the team.
- Apply a structured, process-oriented approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to assurance strategies across the system lifecycle.
- Identify and mitigate technical project risks.
- Take ownership of complex technical problems.
- Carry out research in order to make well informed technical decisions.
- Communicate proactively with other team members to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions and unblock technical issues.
- Build relationships with key external stakeholders.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to work methodically.
Experience
- 5+ years experience delivering projects in an industrial environment.
- Ideally a background/experience in the rail Industry including certification.
- Ideally hold a UK Driving license and willingness to drive to various UK site locations.
- Familiarity with rail standards (e.g. EN, ISO or equivalent).
- Experience working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
- Background in systems engineering, safety assurance, quality, or testing.
