Senior Systems and Infrastructure Engineer

Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems and Infrastructure Engineer to be involved in the projects we complete from specification, design, test & build and commissioning.

You will be working on projects primarily destined for the railway environment, as well as other national infrastructure. These systems might typically consist of technology such as line scanning and machine vision cameras, lighting, laser measurement systems, thermal sensors, industrial embedded Linux, IP networking, GPS/4G/5G. The ideal candidate will hold a broad fundamental understanding of integrating and fault finding this type of equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, test, commission Smart Capture solutions on new and existing projects using our suite of products and off the shelf components.
  • Ensure compliance to project requirements, budget and timelines.
  • Identify and mitigate technical project risks.
  • Take ownership of complex technical problems.
  • Carry out technical research in order to make well informed technical decisions.
  • Communicate proactively with other team members to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions and unblock technical issues.
  • Build relationships with key external stakeholders
  • 2nd Line testing and fault finding across a broad range of technology: Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Cloud.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, for example systems specifications, commissioning, testing and compliance.
Personal Qualities and Experience
  • Self-motivated with strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Effective working under pressure.
  • Strong delivery-focused work ethic, with the ability to multitask and ensure priority work is completed on time.
  • Basic knowledge of testing electronics issues such as use of a multi-meter or scope.
  • Basic knowledge of IP networking and Linux administration.
  • Flexible and adaptable style of approach but with meticulous and systematic attention to detail when it matters.
  • Strong written communication skills, including document/specification writing.
  • 5+ years experience delivering projects in an industrial environment.
  • Ideally a background/experience in the rail Industry.
  • Hold a UK Driving license and willingness to drive to various site locations from time to time.

You will also be keen to contribute ideas to both the business development and the social side of the company.
