Senior Electronics Engineer
Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to be involved in the projects we complete from design, specification, test and build and commissioning.
This role is available in either our Bristol or Derby offices. Some travel between the two will be required from time to time.
You will be working on projects primarily destined for the railway environment. These systems might typically consist of integrated technology such as line scanning and machine vision cameras, lighting, laser measurement systems, thermal sensors, industrial embedded Linux, IP networking, GPS/4G/5G. We use a combination of in-house electronics and off the shelf products to put together bespoke systems. The ideal candidate will hold a broad fundamental understanding of this type of technology and ideally some existing experience in the rail industry.
Responsibilities
- Design and development of custom PCB and enclosures.
- Create initial prototypes and see them through to mature products.
- Integration of CotS hardware products or components.
- Management of small scale manufacturing and new product introduction.
- Lead on product certification/approvals – e.g EN50155, EN45545, EN50125.
- Delivering solutions on new and existing projects, ensuring compliance to project requirements, budget and timelines.
- Identify and mitigate technical project risks.
- Take ownership of complex technical problems.
- Carry out research in order to make well informed technical decisions.
- Communicate proactively with other team members to provide encouragement, identify problems, create solutions and unblock technical issues.
- Testing and fault finding.
- Create and maintain technical and test documentation.
Personal Qualities and Experience
- 5+ years experience delivering projects in an industrial environment, preferably rail.
- Self-motivated with good communication and organisational skills.
- STM32 experience or equivalent.
- Effective working under pressure.
- Strong delivery-focused work ethic.
- Flexible and adaptable style of approach but with meticulous and systematic attention to detail when it matters.
- Strong written communication skills, including document/specification writing.
- Certification/approvals experience (e.g EN50155).
- UK Driving license and willingness to drive to various UK site locations when required.
